Poem for a Day of Service, by the participants in the Franciscan Day of Service

 Service is…

… an amazing thing.

… helping others in need.

… helping others in need.

… a helpful way to reach out.

… helping others to make things better.

… a way to connect with the community.

… how we can make a difference in the world

… giving yourself to something bigger than you.

… help to people for a gentle heart and kind mind.

… happiness; giving love, sharing compassion of God.

… helping others that are in need, and to make their life better.

Service is to help people who need help and share happiness with them.

Service is to help people for free, to make peace, to help people who are sick and poor. It makes people happy

Service is forgetting about myself and share happiness and the love of God.

Service is willing to do without payment. Give love to others in need, making their life better.

Service is using my time to help others in need. Hoping to make a difference in someone’s life or the community.

Service is a kind way to share your love and kindness. No payment, but just to do it and help other people in need. Make them feel better and you feel happier.

Service is to help other people, give the hands to the poor and also is open the heart for God.

Service is to help someone who wants you to help. It makes peace and bring happiness.

Service is actually good for not only others but for us as well. It helps us to work with others and put effort.

 

Service is doing something or acting out of the kindness of your heart without getting paid for it.

Service is a selfless act that allows us to indulge in the community and make an impact that may seem unnoticeable but makes a difference.

Community service is great! It is a great feeling to make the community better.

No matter how hard the service is, doing all the work is worth it.

Community Service is giving back and giving help at your own free will.

Community Service is coming together as a unit/team and give back to a cause.

Community Service is thinking about something other than yourself.  It is applying yourself and indulging in your community.

Service to me is giving back to the community in a positive way

Service to me is more than just giving back to the community. It teaches you to work as a team to make a positive impact. It feels good to do something selfless.

Service means …

… bring happiness and warmth to other people in need.

… do something for people and act of help assistance.

… sacrifice to me, because I give my time and fervency to other people.

Service means the time when I can help people. Service is a part of my life.

Service means helping other people without anything in return. The more services we do, the more other people get the aid they need. We also get something out of it such as love, grace and happiness.

Service means help other in a good way. For example, go to the hospital and play with children who got cancer.

Service teaches you to work towards a common goal as a team.

Service is giving back to the ones in need or to the environment.

Service is coming together to give back to the community for the simple enjoyment of doing so.

Service is giving your time to nurture someone or something to his or her fullest potential. Taking your time to fully embrace the new things in your life with open arms.
